Rikesh “Thunder” Patel is the Founder of Thunder Financial Group, a firm built on ownership experience, family values, and a deep respect for legacy.
Rikesh comes from a commerce-driven family whose journey began in India, continued through Africa and the United Kingdom, and ultimately brought them to the United States — always in pursuit of opportunity, stability, and long-term generational success. Business, real estate, and entrepreneurship were never abstract concepts; they were a way of life.
For more than 15 years, Rikesh has owned, operated, and managed hotels and real estate alongside his family. He has lived the realities of hospitality ownership — from staffing and brand standards to capital improvements, financing cycles, and the pressure that comes with running properties day in and day out. He has also experienced firsthand what it means to successfully sell assets and face the difficult question of what comes next.
After exiting a portfolio of hotels, Rikesh realized many owners were being forced into binary decisions — either sell everything and walk away, or remain fully exposed to operational risk. That gap is what led to the creation of Thunder Financial Group.
Today, Rikesh works directly with independent hotel owners, family-run operations, and Baby Boomer entrepreneurs, helping them think through transitions thoughtfully and strategically. His work is centered around helping owners:
- Position assets correctly for exit, with realistic underwriting and market-driven expectations
- Navigate confidential hotel sales, protecting relationships, staff, and brand integrity
- Evaluate partial exits and reinvestment paths, rather than all-or-nothing decisions

A licensed real estate professional and serves as an AAHOA Ambassador for the State of Alabama, keeping him closely connected to hotel owners, buyer sentiment, and shifting market conditions.
